Some of our more pronounced Hong Kong winning purchases include, HUNTING LAD 肯定叻, a Top Miler, winner of the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Cup, the Piaget Citea Handicap, the Pok Oi Diamond Jubilee Cup, as well as placing in the Sha Tin Trophy and Hong Kong Group 2 Champions & Chater Cup. This David Hayes trained Miler had the honour to race in the prestigious HONG KONG DERBY which was a thrill for his syndicate owners.
ENGINEMAN 多多勁, a 5 time winner and successful in both the inaugural TVB Cup and the PEARCE MEMORIAL Cup races for his owners the Win way Syndicate. He was awarded top sprinter of the year honours and was placed in the Hong Kong Group 3 Happy Valley Vase.
Other purchases include, SONG OF VICTORY 凱歌 who finishing third in the (Domestic Group Two) JUVENILE SPRINT TROPHY for owner Mr. Benny Kwong. HUANG PU JIANG 黃浦風采 a winner of his first 2 starts and record setter at Sha Tin racecourse in a griffin race at 1,000 metres. His owner Simon Mak Fook Cheung complemented dmbloodstock by stating the “Irish River gelding was the fastest horse they had ever owned”.
In addition, top class perform HEAVILY ARMED 霹靂火winner of 6 races including the Hermes Cup, Sandown Challenge Cup winner ORLANDO MAGIC 好運寶, and Hong Kong Racing Journalists Handicap winner LEPRECHAUN 踏雪飛 whom was purchased for Mr. Leo J D’Almada Jr & The Honourable Mr. Justice Geoffrey Ma Tao-li 馬道立 , have all given great joy and brought success to their Hong Kong owners.
In Macau are successful purchases are many and in particular include the talented American bred ORIENTAL SUN (Macau Derby Trail winner) owned by Mr. & Mrs. Paul Chan and Mr. & Mrs. Eddie Li, he was a winner of 7 races and participant in the Macau Derby.
Two of the most honest performers, CULLEN CASTLE & CASTLEISLAND both owner by Mrs. Marquita Yueng. They won a combined total of 14 races with 27 placing. Mr. Yueng once remarked “These were the best horses I ever owned. I never paid a bill”.
Of the many highlights for dmbloodstock, there are few that have brought more joy than the successes of DIAMOND AGE. Purchased by long time friend Mr. Raymond Wu. The Fortunate Prospect gelding was a winner of 6 races including the Ladies Invitational Cup which was especially rewarding as he was ridding to victory by fonder of dmbloodstock jockey Declan Murphy himself.
There are many other successes. YEN FOR DOLLARS Owner by Mr. Joseph Chow and Mr. Ted Freer Esq. Ultimate Supreme, S.T.D.M cup winner and TOP SPIN a nine time winner and owned by successful Hong Kong owner Mr. Anthony Cheung of Hong Kong Derby Trail winner TIBER.
In all, our successful purchases to winners ratio is very high in these markets. Over 90% of the horses we have sold to Hong Kong have been winners and over 95% of purchases have won in Macau. As show, many have won and placed top class one events.
With years of experience as a jockey, trainer, horse owners and bloodstock agents our knowledge and experience in the horse racing is extensive. Further, with our founder having been a successful rider in both Hong Kong and Macau for a number of years. This gives us a keen advantage in understanding the special needs to find the right horse for these markets. There is simply no substitute for first hand experience.
We at DMbloodstock understanding the special needs required for horses for the unique racing environments of Hong Kong and Macau. We have knowledge of the racing style, track surfaces and the hot-humid conditions that overseas purchases will face when they come to these areas.
